On January 24 and 25, Trifonov plays Chopin’s Concerto for Piano No. 1 with Orchestre de Paris; Klaus Mäkelä conducts. Trifonov then heads to Italy, bringing a program that includes Mozart’s Sonata No. 12 in F Major, K. 332 and Mendelssohn’s Variations Sérieuses, op. 54 to Teatro Malibran (January 27), Ferrara Musica (January 29) and Teatro alla Scala (January 31).
In February, Trifonov plays Mason Bates’s Piano Concerto at Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin (February 3). He performs a recital with cellist Gautier Capuçon featuring Debussy, Prokofiev, and Rachmaninoff at the Berlin Philharmonie on February 6, touring Belgium, France, Germany, and Austria with the same program throughout the month. Trifonov finishes February at the Los Angeles Philharmonic with Brahms’s Piano Concerto No. 2 (February 23-25).
On March 3, Trifonov performs Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in Sarasota with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. He and the orchestra then bring Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 9 in E-flat Major, K. 271, “Jeunehomme” to West Palm Beach (March 4), Miami (March 7), New York (March 9), and D.C. (March 11). Later in the month, Trifonov plays a program featuring works by Rameau, Mozart, Mendelssohn, and Beethoven in Dallas (March 18), Houston (March 22), and Minnesota (March 24), before bringing the same program to Europe in May.
